Tony represents the vast majority of accidental data center owners who don’t realize that the equipment they are gutting from their facility actually has value to someone else.  It’s true that they require costly specialized heavy equipment and specialized manpower.  Additionally, they might require traffic management and city permits, safe removal and transportation of hazardous materials, and disconnection of power, liquids, gases, and heavy-duty infrastructure.  However, much of the equipment that is being removed has resell value if put in the right hands.  As the old adage goes, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
